So annoying. Waterstone’s have a new book distribution outfit called the Book Hub. Basically, it’s a central point/warehouse from which all books are sent out to their stores. I’m pretty sure it’s an outsourced operation. Their database isn’t reading the Gardner’s (the national book supplier my publisher uses) database properly. The Book Hub database is saying ‘Status uncertain’ for Necromancer’s Betrayal, so some stores aren’t ordering it until it’s clearly available. I’ve been phoning round everyone, but get bounced from one to another.
Even curiouser, some Waterstone’s stores have received their orders of NB without trouble – tends to be the stores where I’ve got signings lined up, which is a relief.
Sheesh. Stupid industry.
