Not noodles, and not poodles, but oodles! 40 copies sold, so a good day all told. The store manager Laura was lovely – and had borrowed a Peter Rabbit costume to help drum up a buzz in the store. It was all a bit surreal, given that I was there in my usual gothic garb and selling dark fantasy, but it worked somehow.
Apparently, Waterstone’s Oldham’s biggest ever signing previously was only something like 15 copies sold, so I annihilated that record, and some on top of that! Lovely Laura was all but crying with joy at the end, bless her. She said I could sell steak to a vegetarian!
And I met some nice customers too (nice people generally in Oldham), including Lyndsey, Chloe, Emma, and others.
Next stop: Waterstone’s Bolton on Friday 10 Dec, from 11am, closely followed by Nottingham on Saturday 11 Dec. Busy, busy.
