They’ll introduce ‘economies of scale’, make staff redundant and start to cull bottom-list and even some mid-list authors. However, it’s part of a wider trend (Waterstones teaming up with Amazon, and so on) that may have been caused by the ‘size’ of Amazon and Apple, the credit crunch or just old-fashioned greed.
