The inaugural A J Dalton metaphysical writing competition
Want to win proof copies of the latest fantasy books? Want a writing tutorial with A J Dalton? Want an audience for your writing? Want to be a step closer to being published. No? Then this isn’t the competition for you – stop reading now.
If you’re still reading, for a chance to win, what you need to do is write me a 500-word mini-saga (short story, init) in the metaphysical fantasy sub-genre. What’s that? Definitions on my site http://www.ajdalton.eu/, of course. Your mini-saga should be set in an inn (or at least pass through one) and there should be disreputable sorts around – otherwise, it’s up to you. You need to send your entry to DaltonsQuill@gmail.com by midnight of 31 Dec 2013.
The top five entries will get personalised feedback on their writing, and a copy of a fantasy book (of my choosing – basically, the promotional copies I’ve got left from World Fantasy Con). The top five mini-sagas will also be posted/hosted on my website – don’t worry, you keep all rights, etc. And the outright winner gets a tutorial with me in which I’ll reveal the arcane secret of getting published.
i) If I get inundated with entries, then I might have to close the competition early – so the sooner you enter, the better ii) I’ll send an email acknowledging receipt of your entry, but I will not be giving feedback on any entries beyond the top five iii) my judging decision is final I’m afraid iv) it’s only one entry per person v) your entry should be previously unpublished (legal reasons, etc) vi) entries should be in Word or PDF (and please include page numbers!).
Best of luck, y’all. Get scribbling.
